River

I was in the river today.

One that runs north and south,

Sometimes east and west.

Rivulets and fast flowing brooks merge,

Intertwine endlessly,

Keeping destinations endless.

Rainbows reflected off metallic scales.

I avoided angry predators,

Dodged racing guppies.

After drifting to shore, I smiled.

It was a good day to swim.

  1. Hey, nice to see you adding your poems to your blog. I love your river poem…it feels peaceful (in spite of dodging dangerous predators!) and I love the last two lines…especially the smiling. 🙂
